Questions

Frequently asked questions

The things dreamers tend to ask before they begin, about the written translations, the circles that gather in person, and sitting one to one.

The written translation

Bringing a dream

What is a dream translation?

A dream translation is a slow, careful reading of the images and feeling-tones in your dream, rendered in clear language you can live with. I listen for what the dream is doing, not just what it seems to say, and let its own logic lead. The result is a written response that honors the dream as a guest who has traveled far.

Who reads my dream?

I do: Daniel Pagano, a human guide of thirty-three years, not an algorithm or a panel. Your dream arrives only to me, and I sit with it the way I would sit with a friend telling me something important.

Is this therapy?

No. Dream translation is reflective, soulful work, but it is not therapy, counseling, or clinical treatment. If what you need is psychological or medical care, I will gladly help you find the right professional. This work is companionship for the symbolic life, not a replacement for licensed support.

How is my dream kept private and secure?

The dream form is not yet operational. When it opens, your dream will travel over an encrypted connection through a selected intake provider operating under a signed Business Associate Agreement into my properly configured Google Workspace. It is not stored on the website. I read it and I am responsible for every translation; any AI assistance happens only under a provider and configuration covered for this material, and until that is in place your dream is not sent to an AI tool. Ask me to delete your dream at any time and I will.

What are the voices?

The voices are distinct lenses through which I listen: depth psychology, myth and symbol, the body, and contemplative presence, among others. Each voice asks the dream a slightly different question, so the translation can become rounder than any single reading. Together they form a circle around the dream, not a verdict upon it.

What does it cost?

The written translation is offered freely; bring a dream and it is met, with nothing asked of you first. The in-person circle is $33. If the work opens something you want to follow further, going deeper one to one with Daniel is arranged directly with him.

How long until I receive it?

I return most translations within three to five days. Some dreams ask for more time, and if yours does, I will tell you plainly before I begin.

The living circle

Dream circles

Dates: Daniel to confirm. Upcoming dates and how often the circle recurs are not yet listed.

What happens in a dream circle?

A ninety-minute meditative journey into the symbolic, somatic and emotional language of dreams. Dreams are shared within a supportive group process, receiving clarifying questions and reflections from the circle, with smaller groups exploring symbolism and supporting self-discovery. Practices may include guided meditation, ritual elements and somatic awareness. I draw on the foundational work of Jung and Freud alongside contemporary dreamwork pioneers including Toko-pa Turner, Estes and Sangreal.

Do I have to share a dream?

No. Many people come for months and only listen, and the listening is real work. Bring a dream when one asks to be brought.

When and where does it meet?

The circle gathers in person at 119 West 23rd Street, Suite 502a, New York, NY 10011, from 6:30 to 8:00 in the evening. Upcoming dates are announced as they are set.

Is there a fee to sit in the circle?

The circle is $33. Going deeper, one to one with me, is arranged directly with me.

What is said in the circle: does it stay there?

Yes. Dreams shared in the circle stay in the circle. Everyone who sits down agrees to that before we begin, and it is the condition that makes the room safe enough to dream out loud in.

Can I come if I'm new to dreamwork?

Yes. This is an open-level circle and no dreamwork experience is necessary. It is a confidential, non-judgmental space, where self-knowledge, imagination, healing, and a deeper connection to yourself and others are allowed to arrive in their own time. Come with a dream, or come to listen. Day dreams are as welcome as night ones.

One to one

Dream interpretation sessions

What is a dream interpretation session?

A live conversation, just the two of us, in which we work a dream together as it opens. Where a written translation is something I prepare and return to you, a session is something we make in the room; I can ask what the image feels like in your body, follow what surfaces, and let the dream lead in real time.

How is a session different from a written translation?

The translation is a considered letter; the session is a conversation. The letter is good for a dream you want to sit with slowly and keep. The session is good for a dream that is still moving, for a series that keeps returning, or when you would rather think aloud with someone than read alone.

How long is a session, and what does it cost?

Session length and fees for one-to-one dreamwork are arranged directly with me and confirmed before we begin. If cost is a concern, say so and we will talk it through.

Do we meet in person or online?

Either. I see dreamers in person in New York City and over video for those elsewhere. The work carries well over video; the dream does not seem to mind the distance.

Can I bring a dream series, or ongoing work?

Yes, and dreams often prefer it. A single dream can be met on its own, but a series read across months tends to say something no single night could. Some dreamers come once; others keep a standing rhythm.

Is a session therapy?

No. I am a licensed psychoanalyst, and I keep that practice separate from this one by design. A Dream Circle session is dreamwork, reflective, symbolic companionship, not therapy, counseling, diagnosis, or clinical treatment, and it does not make you my patient. If what you need is clinical care, I will help you find the right person for it.

What if a dream opens something difficult?

Dreams sometimes bring us to the edge of hard material, and that is not a failure of the work. I will slow down, and I will say plainly if what has surfaced belongs with a therapist rather than in dreamwork.
